Basalt, a volcanic rock, primarily comes in
varying shades of gray with minimal mineral deposits for high quality.
Precision in cutting ensures uniformity in color and accurate sizing. While
basalt has a relatively high absorption rate, it can be used in intermittent
wet areas, but not submerged ones. This durable material is suitable for
commercial applications and can be honed, polished, or finished in various ways
to meet specific preferences. Basalt tiles offer versatility in design, with
options like penny round mosaics and straight joint mosaics. Ideal for large
entertaining areas due to its low maintenance and durability, basalt's neutral
coloring complements various design schemes and offers longevity without the
need for alterations. Its hard and durable nature, derived from its volcanic
origin, ensures longevity and resistance to corrosion, requiring minimal
maintenance.
Basalt is spread over an area of about 11,000
km2 in the northeast of Jordan, which is a very huge reserve. Also, the proven
reserves are calculated from data obtained from boreholes drilled in Tell Burma
and estimated at 310 Mt.
